Every answer in the Sound Tester discussions is written or checked by the people who build and maintain the Sound Tester tools. This page explains who answers, how an answer earns the Verified badge and how we keep answers current. It follows our main Editorial Policy.
Who Answers Your Discussions
Discussions are answered by the Sound Tester Audio Team. Each team member has a public profile that lists their role, the devices and topics they work on, and their experience. Community members can also reply, and their replies are shown separately from the team answer.
How An Answer Gets The Verified Badge
- The fix is reproduced on real headphones, speakers or microphones, or matched against the maker’s own support documentation.
- The steps are run in order by a team member, and the device, system and browser used are listed under the answer as Tested On.
- Measurement and hearing facts are checked against the published standard or health body, such as the W3C Web Audio API, IEC 61672, NIOSH or the World Health Organization, and the source is linked under the answer.
- A second team member reads the answer before it is marked Verified.
How We Keep Answers Current
Each verified answer shows the date it was last checked. Answers are reviewed again at least every six months, or sooner when a browser, operating system, driver or device update changes the steps. When a listener reports that a fix no longer works, the discussion goes back into the review queue.
Community Replies
Replies from listeners are moderated before they appear. A reply that solves the problem can be marked as the Accepted Solution by the team after it has been checked. Replies from the team show the team member’s name, photo and profile.
Hearing And Health Questions
Our hearing and noise answers are general information, not medical advice. If you notice hearing loss, ringing in the ears or pain, please see a doctor or an audiologist.
What We Do Not Do
- We do not charge for answers and we do not sell repairs.
- We do not publish your email address. Screenshots and recordings are published only after review, and location data is removed from photos when they are uploaded.
- We do not accept payment to recommend a product or brand.
