Short Answer

Self-muting is often caused by an inline mute switch, an app option or exclusive control. Check the cable switch and the app settings.

Some headsets have an inline mute that gets bumped. Apps can also take exclusive control and mute you.

After you make the change, play the Mic Test again to confirm the result. If the problem is still there, add your device, browser and what you tried in the replies so the team can narrow it down.

Step By Step Fix
  1. Check the inline switch and LED
  2. Turn off Allow applications to take exclusive control
  3. Check your meeting app mute settings
  4. Update the headset driver

Exclusive control was the culprit. I checked it again with the Mic Test afterwards to be sure.
