tried the decibel meter and it says 52 but my other phone app says 41 in the same room. which one is right lol
Phone and browser meters often differ by 5 to 15 dB because each microphone is tuned differently. Neither is lab accurate, so compare changes, not the exact number.
Both numbers can be "right" and still differ. Every phone and laptop microphone has its own sensitivity, built-in noise reduction and automatic gain, so two devices in the same room rarely agree. A gap of 5 to 15 dB is common.
A browser or phone app is useful for comparing one moment with another, such as a quiet room against a loud one. It is not a replacement for a calibrated sound level meter when exact numbers matter.
