Short Answer

Most adults lose the highest frequencies gradually, so 16 to 17 kHz at 29 is common. A test on a website is a rough guide, not a medical diagnosis.

The upper limit of hearing falls with age and noise exposure. Headphones also limit what can be heard above 16 kHz.

After you make the change, play the Hearing Test again to confirm the result. If the problem is still there, add your device, browser and what you tried in the replies so the team can narrow it down.

Step By Step Fix
  1. Repeat the Hearing Test using good headphones at a comfortable volume
  2. Compare each ear separately
  3. Avoid loud sound before testing
  4. See an audiologist if you notice trouble with speech

Mine was 16k at 33, my audiologist said normal. Worth trying before you spend any money.

Keep your volume down and protect hearing. It took me a few minutes, and the Hearing Test showed the difference straight away.
