Short Answer

A clean 1 kHz sine should sound steady with no buzz. A buzz means distortion, a loose part or electrical noise.

1 kHz is in the middle of the range, so any buzz or flutter means a problem in the speaker or its signal.

After you make the change, play the Tone Generator again to confirm the result. If the problem is still there, add your device, browser and what you tried in the replies so the team can narrow it down.

Step By Step Fix
  1. Play a 1 kHz sine at low volume
  2. Listen for steady tone without buzz
  3. Raise volume slowly and note where distortion starts
  4. Try another cable or output

Mine buzzed with a bad cable. It took me a few minutes, and the Tone Generator showed the difference straight away.
