Short Answer

Run a slow sweep at low volume and note the exact moment the rattle starts. Then hold that pitch in the Tone Generator and press things in the room until it stops.

A rattle that shows up only at one bass note is sympathetic vibration: something loose in the room resonates at that exact frequency. It is common with shelves, window frames, picture frames and loose speaker grilles.

The aim is to find the frequency first, then hold it steady so you can hunt the culprit by hand.

Step By Step Fix
  1. Play the Frequency Sweep slowly at low volume and watch where the rattle begins
  2. Hold that frequency in the Tone Generator with a sine wave
  3. Walk around the room and touch shelves, doors, windows and lamps until the buzz stops
  4. Tighten the speaker grille and screws, and place foam or rubber pads under the sub
  5. Move the sub a foot away from the wall if the whole wall seems to buzz

same, it was my window. moved the speaker a few inches and it went away

was the shelf behind the speaker. put some foam under it, fixed

The frequency sweep helped me find mine. It rattled around 90 Hz and it was a loose cabinet door nearby.
