Short Answer

Quiet dialogue means the center channel level is too low or the receiver is downmixing. Raise the center level in the speaker setup and run the Surround Sound Test.

In 5.1 the center speaker carries most of the dialogue. If its level is set too low, the voices vanish under the effects.

After you make the change, play the Surround Sound Test again to confirm the result. If the problem is still there, add your device, browser and what you tried in the replies so the team can narrow it down.

Step By Step Fix
  1. Open the receiver menu and raise the center level by 2 to 3 dB
  2. Check that the speaker is set to Small or Large correctly
  3. Use the Surround Sound Test to confirm the center plays
  4. Turn on a dialogue enhancement mode

+3 dB center fixed my dialogue. It took me a few minutes, and the Surround Sound Test showed the difference straight away.

I swapped the center and left wires by mistake once. Hope that saves you some time.
