Short Answer

Crackle for viewers usually comes from CPU load or sample-rate mismatch. Match all devices to 48 kHz, lower the stream quality and update Discord.

When the PC encodes video and audio at the same time, a busy CPU can break the audio buffer. Sample rates that do not match add crackle.

After you make the change, play the Sound Test again to confirm the result. If the problem is still there, add your device, browser and what you tried in the replies so the team can narrow it down.

Step By Step Fix
  1. Set playback and recording devices to 48000 Hz in Windows
  2. In Discord lower the stream resolution or frame rate
  3. Close heavy apps
  4. Update the headset driver and Discord

Matching the rates did it. Hope that saves you some time.

Dropping to 720p removed the crackle. It took me a few minutes, and the Sound Test showed the difference straight away.
