Ask By Brayden R.2,069 views

I want to know how low my headphones go. Is there a simple way to check bass without buying a measurement mic

Short Answer

Play a slow Frequency Sweep from 20 to 200 Hz and note where you first hear the tone. That is your headphones' practical low limit.

You do not need a mic for a rough check. Most closed headphones reach about 30 Hz, and where the tone becomes audible is a good guide.

After you make the change, play the Bass Test again to confirm the result. If the problem is still there, add your device, browser and what you tried in the replies so the team can narrow it down.

Step By Step Fix
  1. Use a quiet room and set the volume to a comfortable level
  2. Play the Bass Test or a slow sweep from 20 Hz upward
  3. Note the first audible pitch
  4. Repeat with the other earcup and compare

I could hear mine from 35 Hz, which matched the spec. Worth trying before you spend any money.
