Short Answer

Check the serial number on Apple's coverage page, compare pairing animation and run a Left Right Test. Flat sound and missing features are warning signs.

Counterfeits often fail serial checks and lack features like spatial audio.

After you make the change, play the Headphone Test again to confirm the result. If the problem is still there, add your device, browser and what you tried in the replies so the team can narrow it down.

Step By Step Fix
  1. Find the serial number in Settings, Bluetooth
  2. Check it on Apple's coverage checker
  3. Run the Left Right Test
  4. Return it quickly if it looks fake

Serial check failed on mine and I got a refund. It took me a few minutes, and the Headphone Test showed the difference straight away.

Fake ones also pair differently. It took me a few minutes, and the Headphone Test showed the difference straight away.
