Short Answer

Play sweeps at low volume. Sustained loud low frequencies can damage speakers, and loud tones can harm hearing.

A constant tone puts continuous stress on a speaker and your ears.

After you make the change, play the Frequency Sweep again to confirm the result. If the problem is still there, add your device, browser and what you tried in the replies so the team can narrow it down.

Step By Step Fix
  1. Start at a low volume
  2. Raise slowly
  3. Stop if you hear distortion
  4. Keep headphones off at high levels

Low volume only. Learned this early. It took me a few minutes, and the Frequency Sweep showed the difference straight away.

Distortion means stop. It took me a few minutes, and the Frequency Sweep showed the difference straight away.

Trying a different browser quickly showed me the problem was a setting and not the site.
