does virtual 7.1 actually help in games or is it just a gimmick? mine makes footsteps sound weird
Virtual surround changes how sounds arrive at each ear, so it helps some people and confuses others. Try stereo first, then compare with a Surround Sound Test.
Virtual 7.1 uses head-related filters to place sounds around you. Stereo is clean, but virtual surround can blur it if the filters do not fit your ears.
