Short Answer

Bluetooth signals are weak through the body, so a back pocket can block the link. Move the phone to the front, the opposite side from the headphone antenna or use a newer Bluetooth version.

The 2.4 GHz signal is absorbed by water, so your body blocks it. The antenna in most headphones sits in one earcup, so the phone side matters.

Carrying the phone on the same side as that earcup reduces dropouts.

Step By Step Fix
  1. Try the phone in a front pocket or armband
  2. Switch the phone to the other side to test
  3. Keep headphone firmware updated
  4. If it keeps happening, consider a model with Bluetooth 5.3

Armband changed everything when I run. I forgot about the body block. I tested it on my own setup and it held up for weeks.

My Bose did the same, front pocket is fine. I checked it again with the Headphone Test afterwards to be sure.
